The chemical formula of mineral Cadmoindite is indicated by CdIn2S4. This mineral is most commonly found in high- temperature fumarolic crusts of the Kudriavy stratovolcano. Cadmoindite is a known member of the Linnaeite group. Cadmoindite is most commonly found at its type of locality at Kudriavy tratovolcano on the northernmost part of Iturup Isle in the southern Kurile Islands. Cadmoindite was named for its chemistry as the Cd analogue of indite. Mineral Cadmoindite is known to crystallize in the isometric system of crystal formation. In optical mineralogy, this isometric crystal system comprises crystals having three axes, all of which are perpendicular to one another and all are found equal in lengths.

This mineral is most commonly found colored black or dark brown in hand sample. Mineral Cadmoindite is most commonly found translucent in appearance. Mineral Cadmoindite is commonly found showing conchoidal fracture when evaluated under poalrized microscope used in the field of optical mineralogy. This fracture is developed in brittle materials characterized by smoothly curving surfaces. The crystal habit of mineral Cadmoindite as described in the field of optical mineralogy usually includes microscopic crystals where crystals are only made visible with the aid of polarized microscopes as the ones used in optical mineralogy. It can be also found forming octahedral crystals which occurs as octahedral shaped crystals. Cadmoindite is most commonly found exhibiting adamantine luster when evaluated in reflected light of polaring microscope for mineralogists. Cadmoindite is a non-radioactive mineral as evaluated.
